1. What events led to the outbreak of war in the DR Congo?

The events that led to the outbreak of war in the Dr  Congo was in 1994, after the genocide in Rwanda many of the Hutu's ,about a million of them fled to the border of the Congo to stay safe and hide from the Tutsi. Some of the Tutsi still remained in the Kivus which was the part of Congo that bordered Rwanda. So in 1996 and in 1998 the Tutsi invaded Kivus to get the remaining genocides. They killed hundreds of thousands of other Innocent people in the process and almost 8 others countries became involved in the fighting.this war still continues in the country today.

2. How many have died in this war? Over what time frame has the deaths taken place? What countries and ethnic groups are involved?

More than 5 million people have died in the Congo war. Over the past 10 years people have been killed. at least 8 other countries have become involved in the fighting. Some people who are involved in this is the Congolese Tutsi,and, Laurent Nkunda. Nkuda is not helping at all. In fact him and his solders make it worst because they are adding to the violence when they should be helping. The united nation is involved in the war because they support Nkuda army. Even the Rwandans them selves has been involved.

  

3. What do you think can happen to stop the war/genocide in Congo?

       What I think could happen to stop this war is maybe the USA could try to pitch in and work out a solution  to this problem. They should make the two types of people come to an agreement or possibly separate the two. I personally don't think their might be anything any one can do . I believe that they are their own people which means regardless of what people try to do, if they decide not to stop then they wont. I think they need to realize that everyone is equal and they all should be treated the same. They need to know that this is war is stupid and that they are only hurting their selves . They are also bringing in other countries who had nothing to do with it.Even with this I think that the other countries make it worst because they feed into it and make more war. It's up to them to stop what their doing to bring piece to their country otherwise this will continue and soon they will probably wipe out just about everyone.
